Blue Ridge Smokies Sauce
Blue Ridge Smokies Sauce
This sweet, smoky sauce is great on pork spareribs or you can use it on a recipe of your own that includes pork or beef ribs, even chicken.
1 cup ketchup
1 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon salt
rounded 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1. Combine all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan over high heat, and whisk until smooth.
2. Bring sauce to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30-40 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
Makes 1 1/2 cups.
