Snickerdoodles

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar (or 1 tsp. baking powder)
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3 Tbs. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
Heat oven to 375o. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, sugar, and eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Shape dough by rounded tsp. into balls. Mix 3 Tbs. sugar and cinnamon; roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from baking sheet.
